3 tops and 1 flop

In the last few weeks I've been testing some new products I've bought and I want to show you in this post the ones I like and the one that I don't like.

I want to start with a product that I honestly have never thought I could like. It's the L'Oreal Lumi Magique pure light primer (€ 14,90). First of all I have to say that I'm not a primer girl, I own a couple of them but I almost never use them because I don't see a huge improvement in the way my make up lasts or looks. Secondly, even when I decide to use a primer, I usually choose a mattifying one, because of my combination-oily skin. This L'Oreal one, instead, is an illuminating primer, that gives my complexion a touch of light, without being overly glowing. When my skin is more on the normal side, I apply a small amount of it all over my face; when my T-zone tends to get a bit oilier, I apply it only on my cheeks. I must admit I'm very impressed, every time I use it my make up looks a lot more fresh and natural, radiant but not oily.

The other tree products I want to show you are all from Kiko. The first is the Color-Up Long Lasting Eyeshadow (€ 3,90) in the shade n. 8 "Sinuous Shell". It's a jumbo eyeshadow pencil that has a very good lasting power and is super quick and easy to apply. The shade is a gorgeous light, almost white, pink with pearly reflections. I like to use it in the inner corners of my eyes to add a touch of light, as well as on the center of my eyelids. Sometimes, I even use it on my cheekbones as an highlighter and the result is beautiful.

Another winner from Kiko is the Precision lip pencil in the shade n. 309 (€ 4,20), a beautiful crimson red shade. It is very long lasting but it doesn't dry out my lips and it's also very easy to blend. It comes in a lot of differente shades and I think that for its price the quality is extremely good.

The last Kiko product, instead, is a big "no, no!" to me. It's the Soft Focus Concealer (€ 7,50), which I have in the lightest shade, the n. 01. First of all, the shade is too dark for my skin, even if it's the lightest available. Second, it's supposed to be an enlightener concealer, but I find to be quite matte. Third, it's very drying, it comes out in a light liquid consistency that quickly drys out, emphasizing any fine lines under your eyes. It really looks horrible. Lastly, the packaging is terrible: it's a pen concealer with a button at the end of the tube that you must click in oder to let the product coming out. The fact is that it takes forever before the concealer starts to be dispensed and when finally it comes out, it is way too much and gets very messy. Awful product!

Are you planning to try any of these products?

Terribile!

Avete in mente di provare qualcuno di questi prodotti?

December favorites

For my December beauty favorites I decided to pick only few products, because I'm soon going to write a post about my top favorites of 2014 and I don't want to be repetitive and talk about the same products in every post!

I want to start with a new base I've recently discovered, the new Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide foundation by Laura Mercier (€ 48,00). It's a very liquid foundation, that needs to be well shaken before the application and, despite being extremely lightweight and looking very natural, it provides a good medium coverage and a beautiful smooth finish. The staying power is great, as well as the color selection. I have it in the shade "Shell" and it's fine, although I think that "Creme" would be a better match. I think this foundation is awesome for people with combination to oily skin because it lasts for hours without getting shiny and the finish is quite matte but still very natural.

Since Kiko offered a 30% off on all the products, I decided to stock up on their Double Touch Lipstick (€ 6,90), a combination of a very intense lipstick and a luminous lipgloss that fixes the color allowing it to resist for literally hours without fading away. I bought the shade 112, a cherry red, 113, a dark red, 114, a light plum, and 115, a light fucsia. My favorite shades are 113 and 114, because I'm more into dark colors at the moment, but all the shades are gorgeous, very intense and pigmented and they last forever on the lips!

After I bought the Mac lipstick in the shade Brave (see my review here), I decided to buy the Mac lip liner in the shade Soar, to pair with the lipstick. However, Melanie Murphy, one of my favorite YouTuber (here is her channel), in one of her video says that she uses Essence Satin Mauve lip liner (€ 1,29), which is the same color of the Mac one, but it's a lot cheaper and more moisturizing. I decided to give it a go and I have to say that I'm really impressed! I can't compare it with the Mac one because I've never bought a Mac lip liner, however I can say that the shade looks perfect in combination with my Brave lipstick, it lasts long without drying out my lips and it's very easy to apply. Love it!

My most recent discover is the Lancome Grandiose mascara (€ 31,50). If you follow my blog, you know that I'm a huge fan of volumizing mascaras, like Dior Extase and Le Volume de Chanel. When I heard that this mascara by Lancome was able to give a false lashes effect, I couldn't resist, I had to try it! The "Swan Neck" design is very unique and it provides access to all the lashes. In fact, the curve of the wand works with the shape of the face for an easier application. The formula is ultra black, very long lasting and it makes my lashes bigger and longer without the clumpy effect that some volumizing mascaras give. What could I ask for more?

Nail polishes dupes

I don't know when and how it happened, but at some point in my life I started collecting nail polishes. I've got so many of them that sometimes I buy a shade I already own just because I've forgotten about it. That is why I've found in my collection some cheaper dupes of more expensive nail polishes.

I've been wanting the Chanel 535 "May" (€ 23,55) nail polish for month when it first came out, and when I finally bought it I was a bit disappointed. The color is a beautiful baby pink, very sophisticated and glamour, but the quality of the product itself is quite bad, especially if you think about the price! It leaves an uneven coverage and the consistency is a bit too thick, so that it takes some time to apply it. I very much prefer my beloved Essie "Flawless" nail polish (€ 13,95), which has pretty much the same shade of the Chanel one, but it's so much quicker and easier to apply and has a more creamy consistency.

One of my favorite fall/winter nail polish is Essie's Berry Naughty (€ 13,95), a gorgeous deep berry red shade that looks amazing for the day time as well as for the night time. As I said above, the quality of Essie's nail polishes is amazing, but if you want to save some money, Kiko Nail Lacquer in the shade 243 (€ 2,90) is a great option. The shades are very similar, the Kiko one has a more purple undertone, but the difference is subtle. I think that Essie has a higher quality, but Kiko nail polishes are not bad and they're a lot cheaper!

One of my favorite spring/summer shade is, instead, the n. 281 from Kiko (€ 2,90), a beautiful vibrant lobster red color that, in my opinion, is much more girly and peculiar than a classic red shade. Clinique makes a nail polish of the exactly same shade, called "06 Happy" (14,00), but I don't like it at all. Besides the fact that it's more expensive, it doesn't last more than one day on my nails. I like the consistency and it applies evenly, but for some reason, it doesn't hold and, after a few hours, it stars to come off. Kiko definitely wins in this case!

Another Kiko dupe for a more expensive nail polish is the shade n. 339 (€ 2,90), a lovely periwinkle blue shade that is perfect in every time of the year. You definitely need to apply two hands of this nail polish, because one has not enough coverage, but I always apply two coats of nail polish, so it doesn't bother me. This shade is extremely similar to the Essie's Lapiz of Luxury (€ 13,95), I think that the only difference is that the lilac undertone is less noticeable in the Essie one. Again, Kiko offers a great cheaper alternative!

Kiko vince a mani basse!

10 Shades of Blu

I've probably never mentioned my obsession for nail polishes in this blog. I own any possibile existing shade and, in some cases, I have two or three different nail polishes of the same shade. Some day I will probably show you my entire collection, but today I want to tell you about one of my favorite nail polish color: blu.

My obsession stared with darker blu shades, like the Kiko Quick Dry nail lacquer (€ 3,90) in the shade number 839, a beautiful deep night blu, almost black, shade. It's the kind of shade that I love to wear in winter, as an alternative to the black nail polish (which I wear a lot!). I own a lot of Kiko nail polishes, they come in many beautiful shades and some of them are perfect dupes for more expensive nail polishes, like Chanle's or Dior's. Another shade that I've recently discovered and has quickly became one of my favorites is "hide & go chic" by Essie (€ 12,95). This color is a gorgeous ocean blu shade, lighter than the Kiko one, but definitely more sophisticated. And, like almost every Essie's nail polishes, the formulation is great.

I also own a couple of electric blu shades: the Kiko nail lacquer n. 385 (€ 2,90) and the Pupa Lasting Color Glossy nail polish n. 718 (€ 6,00). The Kiko one is a bit lighter and brighter, while the Pupa one has a deeper tone of blue, but they both are beautiful shades of electric blue. I find this kind of color very funny to wear and perfect for every season and every look.

Another shade that I tend to use in Summer as well as in Winter is the Kiko nail lacquer n. 295 (€ 2,90), which is probably the first blu nail polish I've ever bought. It's a nice turquoise shade, not too dark, nor too light, which is what I like the most about it.

On to lighter shades, I have three light blu nail polishes that look pretty much the same. They're the Kiko nail lacquer n. 339 (€ 2,90), the Essie "lapiz of luxury" (€ 12,95) and the Kiko Quick Dry nail lacquer n. 849 (€ 3,90). The first two are basically identical, maybe the Kiko one is a little bit lighter, but the difference is subtle. These shades are sort of a mix between periwinkle and a slightly dusty light blu. I think it's the perfect spring shade. The n. 849 from Kiko, instead, is a bit lighter and has a sort of sparkling finish, which I usually don't like, but, in this case, it's barely noticeable.

Last, but not least, two light creamy pastel baby blu: Essie's "mint candy apple" (€ 12,95) and Pupa Lasting Color Glossy nail polish in the shade n. 711 (€ 6,00). They both are perfect shades for any season, especially spring/summer. The Essie one has a more green undertone, while the Pupa one is a pure light pastel blu. They are both adorable!

What about you? What's your favorite nail polish shade?

Fall make up

I love Autumn, it's probably my favorite season. Of course, I love Summer, but fall's colors have no comparison. I find all these beautiful worm shades very inspiring for make up as well.

On the eyes I've been playing a lot with brown and burgundy shades, using a neutral or champagne color as a base. I love how those colors, together, warm up the complexion and emphasize the eye look. They look amazing on green eyes, but I find that they look good basically on everyone.
My favorite eyeshadows for this kind of look are the Kiko Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadows (€ 6,90) in the shades 07, a beautiful shimmery champagne shade, n. 04, a brown color with a touch of gold, and n. 37, a gorgeous luminous red purple color. These eyeshadows are very easy and quick to blend and also very long lasting.
Another combination of eyeshadows I like is the Kiko Eyeshadow (€ 2,90) in the shade 208, a beautiful pearly copper shade, and the Kiko Water Eyeshadow (€ 8,90) in the shade 108, a gorgeous light gold with a warm undertone. For mascara I usually prefer a brown one, like the Pupa Vamp! (€  8,99) in the shade 200 Chocolate Brown.

When I discovered the Nars blush (€ 30,50) in the shade "Seduction", I suddenly felt in love with it. I think it's the perfect fall shade, it's a dark red wine color, with a tiny bit of shimmer in it. At first, I was afraid it would have been too dark for my fair skin tone, but, if applied lightly, it looks gorgeous.

For the lips I have two favorite lipsticks in the perfect fall shades, one is deeper, while the other is a bit more light and sheer. The first one is the YSL Rouge Pur Couture (€ 28,90) in the color n. 206, a matte finish lipstick in a very deep and dramatic shade which is a mix of blood red, burgundy and brown. For a more wearable daytime look, I like the Kiko Smart Lipstick (€ 3,90) in the shade n. 913, a gorgeous rosewood pinky shade, that looks quite intense but can be easily sheered out, thanks to its creamy formula.

Do you like this kind of make up?

August favorites

Another month has passed by, summer holidays are a nice memory and everything is going to go back to the same routine. As every year, I feel a mixture of sadness for the ending of summer and excitement for this new year.
And here we are again with my favorite products of the month.

Last month my skin was freaking out, so I went to a dermatologist who suggested me to use the Avene Clean-Ac Cleansing Cream (€ 14,50). I've never been an Avene lover, all the products I've used before didn't work for me, so I wasn't expecting to like this cleanser. But I did. Thank to its creamy formula, it's extremely gentle, yet effective. It leaves my skin clean and bright and, at the same time, soft and moisturizing. Great product.

This summer I spent some days at the beach, in Milano Marittima, and I stopped at the Cream Beauty Store (see my post about it here), where my attention was caught by the Masterline Professional Beauty haircare line. I decided to buy the Frizz Control Glamour Sleek Serum (€ 7,00) from this line, which is a straightening and anti-frizz treatment that contains Sericin, a silk derived. And my hair definitely feels like silk when I use it! I apply it on wet hair and then I blow dry it. The result is amazing, my hair is extremely soft and luminous.

I've talked about the Dior Addict Fluid Stick (€ 31,00) in this post, so is no surprise that it's one of my favorite beauty products of this month. The shade I have is the n. 479 "Magique", a bright pink-coral shade with an amazing color payoff and a good lasting power. I usually don't like lip glosses, but this one has a very innovative formulation, it feels incredibly light on the lips and it's not sticky at all.

The last two products I want to talk about are both from Kiko. The first one is another Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow (€ 6,90), this one in the shade 04, a beautiful luminous golden brown. It seems like I'm collecting these eyeshadows, but, what can I say, I love them. They're so easy and quick to apply, they last forever and the shades are beautiful.

The other one is the Kiko Smart Lipstick (€ 3,90) in the shade 913, a gorgeous dark pink with a brown undertone. Some Kiko's lipsticks tend to dry out my lips, but this one is very creamy and moisturizing. The intensity is buildable and the finish is very luminous, but not glossy. I also love the packaging, minimal and elegant, and the fact that it's parabens free.

Have you ever tried any of these products?

Kiko Clics System eyeshadows palette

I’ve always been a huge fan of Kiko’s eyeshadows, they have a great pigmentation and they are very unexpansive; this is the reason why, when they released the Eyeshadow palette Clics System I run to the Kiko shop in my city to put my hands on it. What is it? It’s an empty palette that you can customize with the Kiko’s Infinity repositionable eyeshadows (it’s call Clics System). You can choose between a palette with 3 clics, 4 clics, 9 clics or 24 clics. I choose the Eye Clics 09.
Till now I have bought 4 eyeshadows to customize my palette with and I find all of them gorgeous.

Let's start from the row above, from left to right. The shade is the number 214 and it is a very pretty light dusty rose shade, with a matte finish. As you probably know I love my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette, which has gorgeous nude eyeshadows with pink undertones, but none of them is close to the shade of this Kiko eyeshadow. I like to apply it all over the eyelid, as a base, and then I add some definition with a darker shade.

The second is the number 242, a beautiful matte cool brown shade, which is probably my favorite, or, at least, the one I reach for most of the time. I’ve always liked brown eyeshadows, but, for some reasons, all the one I own are warm shades. Even if I enjoy all of them a lot, I wanted to try a colder shade and this one is perfect. It has a buildable intensity, sometimes I apply a light layer of it, sometimes, instead, I like to apply a couple of layer to achieve a more defined brown smoky eyes look. I also like to apply it as an eyeliner, using a wet eyeliner brush, in order to make the color more intense.

The firs eyeshadow from the left in the last row is the shade 257, which is a dupe for the shade Trick in the Urban Decay Naked 3 pelette. They are identical! It’s a warm shimmering gold, very luminous and very pigmented. It’s not my favorite shade, it’s too yellowysh for me, but It’s nice for a summertime look!

Next to it there’s the shade 219. Like the 242, it’s a very unique shade, it’s hard to describe it. It’s a sort of light shimmer bronze, with a slightly cold pink undertone. It’s very similar to the 242, except for the fact that this one is not matte and has a bit of bronze glimmer in it. Sometimes I use this two shades together, sometimes, instead I apply the 219 in the inner corners of the eyes as an highlighter.

The last color is the number 234, a gorgeous burgundy shade with a bit of glimmer in it. It’s not as shimmering as the 257 and the 219, but it’s not matte either. I’ve been using this shade a lot this winter, it’s the perfect alternative to brown shades. Like all the other eyeshadows, it has a very good pigmentation, it’s very easy to blend and it lasts all day on my eyelids.

What about you? Have you tried Kiko’s eyeshadows yet?

March favorites

Here we are with another monthly favorites post.

I’m going to start with foundation, because this month I’ve been mixing two foundations together and I’m very happy with the result! The foundations I’m talking about are my beloved Chanel Vitalumiere Acqua (€ 38,00) and my latest purchase, the Clinique Anti Blemish Solution (€ 28,50) foundation. They work great on their own, but together they’re just perfect. The Chanel foundation adds a touch of light, while the Clinique one keeps my face oil free all day long, giving me a little more coverage then the Vitalumiere Acqua. The shade of the Clinique Anti Blemish (02 fresh ivory) is a bit too dark and beige for me, but mixing it with the Chanel foundation (01 beige) I achieve the perfect shade. I’m in love with them!!

I’ve bought the Bioderma Sébium pore refiner (€ 15,00) a while ago, but in that period my skin became a bit dry, so I didn’t use it for a while. Now, my skin is back to the combination/oily side, so I’ve started using this product regularly and I’m very impressed. I apply it every morning, before my moisturizer, only on my T zone, and it makes my skin matte and oil free for almost all day, giving it a nice, smooth texture.

Last month I sow Liza Eldridge wearing the Clinique Chubby stick (€ 19,66) in the shade 15 Pudgy Peony in one of her videos and I loved the shade so much I decided to buy it. I placed an order online on the Sephora site and, among other stuff I needed to buy, I ordered it too. I can’t tell you how disappointed I was when I opened the box they sent me: the shade didn’t look like the one she wore in that video, but it was darker and brighter that I thought, almost fucsia. I’ve already own some fucsia lipsticks and I didn’t need another one! Despite that, I’ve started enjoying this lipstick day after day. It’s not the color I wanted, but, it’s a very nice pink shade that really suits me. It’s very easy to blend and it’s also quite moisturizing. I like to apply a light layer of it on my lips for an everyday look, but it can be easily built into a more intense color. Lovely.

My Mac eyeshadow (€ 17,64) in Copperplate is my absolute favorite eyeshadow. It’s the perfect tope shade, not too dark, not too light, not too grey and not too brown: just perfect. When I want an easy look, but I want to add a bit of definition to my eyes, I use a light cream shade on my eyelid and then I apply this eyeshadow on the creases of my eyes. It’s not super pigmented, but I prefer applying a light layer and then add more color if I need to.

I’ve always preferred using brown eye pencils instead of black ones, especially on an everyday base. The one that I’ve been using and loving at the moment is the Kiko Twinkle eye pencil (€ 6,90) in the shade 02 Inspiring Golden Brown. I like the fact that it has a touch of gold in it, but it’s not glimmer or glowing at all. It’s just very luminous and natural. And it’s really long lasting!

I don’t usually wear bronzers, most of them are either too dark and orange or too sparkling for me. Anyway, when I sow this Terre Saharienne Poudre de Soleil by YSL (€ 39,80) in shade 3, I thought it could have been the right shade for me. When I swatched it in the shop I didn’t notice it has a bit of glimmer in it, but it’s something I can handle with. I like to use it as a blush when I decide to go for a natural look based on brown shades. It gives me a healthy, sun kissed look, which is perfect for Spring time!
