Beauty haul

Since I've been doing a little shopping recently, I decided to share with you what I've bought. I've thought that the best way to do it was to film a video, so here it is. I hope you enjoy it!

All that glow

I've always been a fan of a matte make up look, probably because, with my combination skin type, glowing and dewy products don't usually work for me.

Sometimes, anyway, I like to shake up my routine and reach for a little more luminous effect. When this happens, there are some products I always relay on, because I know they won't ever disappoint me.

First of all, the base I use is (can you guess?) the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation (€ 38,00). You've probably got sick of me talking about this product, I think I mention it in almost each one of my posts, but what can I say, I love it. It's super light weight but it still gives a nice buildable coverage, it's luminous but in a very beautiful natural way, without being too dewy, and it doesn't perform badly on my skin, in terms on longevity. 

The highlighter I use to add a little more glow to my skin is the Benefit Sun Beam (€ 27,90). It's a golden bronze highlighter that gives your skin a beautiful sun-kissed radiance. I like to use it mostly on Summer, applying it over my cheekbones and browbones. I love how it compliments my skin tone. 

Moving on to blush, I love the Nars Deep Throat one (€ 30,50). It's a coral shade with a touch of golden shimmery that gives luminosity to the skin without being too sparkling. It's a warm shade that's not too orange, nor too pink, with a buildable intensity: you can go light for an everyday look, or add some product for a more defined night time look. It's one of my all time favorite blushes. 

For the eyes, the eyeshadow I reach for when I want some glow is the Maybelline Color Tattoo (€ 10,90) in the shade Bronze from the Dare to go Nude collection. I love the fact that it's easy and quick to use and I think the bronze golden shade looks beautiful with every eyes colors.  

Sometimes, I use a golden vanilla eye pencil on the lower waterline of my eyes. I prefer a vanilla shade over a white one, because I think the white shade can look too evident, while a vanilla one is a little more subtle. My favorite at the moment is the Contour eye pencil 12 HR wear from Sephora (€ 8,90) in the shade "Blonde Ambition". It's a waterproof eye pencil that lasts all day, but it can be easily removed with any cleanser. It opens up the eyes while adding a bit of shimmer. Lovely.

Eventually, for the lips, I like my Dior Addict Lipstick (€ 30,50) in the shade 652 "Tango", which is a very pretty light coral shade with a shiny finish and almost the consistency of a lip balm. It keeps my lips moisturized and, even if it's very sheer, it can be easily built into a more intense color. It's not shimmering but it's very luminous, which is the reason why I think it could be the perfect finishing touch for a nice natural glowing look.

Sono sempre stata un'amante di prodotti per il make up con effetto matte, probabilmente perché sono quelli che hanno una performance migliore sulla mia pelle mista.
Tuttavia, a volte mi capita di voler stravolgere completamente la mia solita routine ed optare per un effetto più luminoso. A questo scopo, faccio sempre affidamento su alcuni prodotti che non mi deludono mai.

Per prima cosa, la base che prediligo in questi casi è (indovinate?) il fondotinta Vitalumiere Aqua di Chanel (€ 38,00). Probabilmente sarete stanchi di sentirmi parlare di questo prodotto, mi sembra di menzionarlo praticamente in ogni mio post, ma cosa posso farci? Lo adoro. E' leggerissimo sulla pelle ma riesce comunque a fornire una buona coprenza, ha un bellissimo finish luminoso ma molto naturale e non si comporta male sulla mia pelle mista in termini di tenuta.

L'illuminante che utilizzo quando voglio dare un ulteriore tocco di luce al viso è il Sun Beam di Benefit (€ 27,90). Si tratta di un highlighter bronzo dorato che rende la pelle radiose come fosse baciata dal sole. Per questo motivo, mi piace utilizzarlo prevalentemente nei mesi estivi, applicandolo sugli zigomi e sotto l'arcata sopracciliare. Mi piace moltissimo l'effetto sano e luminoso che conferisce.

Per quanto riguarda, invece, il blush, la mia preferenza ricade su Deep Throat di Nars (€ 30,50). E' una bellissima tonalità corallo, con un tocco d'oro che conferisce luminosità al viso senza, tuttavia, essere eccessivamente brillante. E' un colore caldo che non vira né troppo all'arancio, né troppo al rosa, ed è facilmente modulabile in intensità: si può scegliere di applicarne un leggero strato per un look adatto a tutti i gironi, oppure si può decidere di aggiungere altro prodotto per un effetto più definito, perfetto per la sera. Questo blush è senza dubbio uno dei miei preferiti di sempre.

L'ombretto che di solito scelgo quando voglio un tocco di luce sulle palpebre è il Color Tattoo di Maybelline (€ 10,90) nella tonalità Bronze, dalla collezione Dare to Go Nude. Trovo che sia facile e veloce da applicare e che la tonalità bronzo dorata doni moltissimi tanto agli occhi chiari tanto quanto a quelli scuri.

A volte mi piace applicare una matita occhi in una tonalità vaniglia dorata nella riga interna inferiore dell'occhio. Preferisco questa tonalità al classico bianco poiché trovo che quest'ultimo spesso risulti troppo evidente e finto; una tonalità un po' più calda e luminosa risulta, invece, più delicata e, quindi, più facile da portare. Al momento la mia preferita è la Contour eye pencil 12 HR wear di Sephora (€ 8,90) nel colore "Blonde ambition". Essendo waterproof, ha una buonissima tenuta ma, allo staso tempo, si rimuove facilmente con qualunque detergente. Fa davvero un ottimo lavoro dell'aprire lo sguardo e donare un tocco di luminosità. Adorabile.

Infine, per dare colore alle labbra, la mia arma segreta è il rossetto Dior Addict (€ 30,50) nella tonalità 652 "Tango", un bellissimo corallo chiaro con la consistenza simile a quella di un balsamo labbra. Mantiene le labbra idratate e, pur essendo molto leggero, può facilmente essere modulato per ottenere un colore più intenso. Non è brillante, ma è molto luminoso, motivo per cui trovo che sia il tocco finale perfetto per un look radioso ma naturale al tempo stesso.

New Base Duo

I firmly believe that the most important thing, when you do your make up, is having a nice base. You can wear the most amazing smoky eyes or the most beautiful bold lips, but if your base is not well done, nothing will look good on you. That doesn’t mean that you necessarily need to wear havy coverage foundations and tons of concealer, you just have to find the right products that make your skin look at its best!

If you’re lucky enough to have a pretty good skin, you can relay just on a good moisturizer, but if you, like me, have problematic skin, you will find that sometimes a good concealer and a nice foundation are required!

The products I’ve been using for the last couple of weeks are doing the trick pretty well,  making my skin look very nice, yet natural. As a foundation I’ve been using the Clinique anti-blemish solution (€ 28,50), a product that I wanted to try when I was breaking out before Christmas, but I didn’t have the chance to buy it at that time. Now my skin has calm down and it looks a lot better, but I wanted to try that foundation anyway, hoping that the salicylic acid it contains would help the healing process. The first thing I have to say is that the colour range is very disappointing. The lightest shade available here in Italy, wich is the one I got, is 02 Fresh Ivory, but it’s still a bit too dark for me. It also has a beigey undertone which I usually don’t like, preferring a yellow one on my skin. Despite that, it looks quite good once applied, the secret is blending it very well and using just a tiny amount of product. It has a very nice natural finish, not too matte and not too dewy, and a good medium coverage. It also lasts all day on me, which is definitely what I like the most about it! I’ve not been using it long enough to say something about its healing properties, but it hasn’t caused me any breakout either, so at the moment I’m quite happy with it.

The concealer I’ve been using in combination with this foundation is the L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique (€ 14,50) in the shade 01 Light. Well, technically it’s not a concealer, it’s an highlighting pen, so, when I need some more coverage I have to use another concealer, but it’s perfect to use under my eyes, around my nose and under my eyebrows. I really like the fact that it doesn’t look cakey under my eyes, like most of concealers do! I think this cound be a nice cheaper version of the Ysl Touche Eclat pen!

What are your favorite base products?

Credo fermamente che la cosa più importante, nel make up, sia avere una buona la base. Potete avere uno smoky eyes perfetto o bellissime labbra rosse, ma se la base non è ben curata, l’effetto finale ne risentirà molto. Con questo non voglio dire che sia necessario ricorrere a fondotinta molto coprenti o a quantità ingenti di correttore! Bisogna solo trovare i prodotti che meglio si combinino con la nostra pelle, esaltandone il naturale splendore e mascherando eventuali imperfezioni.

Se siete abbastanza fortunati da avere una pelle sana e in buone condizioni, allora può essere sufficiente anche soltanto una buona crema idratante. Se invece, come me, avete una pelle più problematica, allora ogni tanto avrete bisogno di un aiuto in più per apparire perfette: fondotinta e correttore sono ciò che vi serve!

I due prodotti che ho iniziato ad utilizzare in combinazione un paio di settimane fa stanno facendo un ottimo lavoro in questo senso: le imperfezioni sono coperte e l’effetto finale è molto gradevole e naturale. In particolare, il fondotinta su cui sto facendo affidamento è il Clinique anti-blemish solution (€ 28,50), un prodotto che avrei voluto comprare prima di Natale, quando la mie pelle era particolarmente infiammata e soggetta ad eruzioni cutanee, ma non ne ho avuto l’occasione. Ora la situazione è decisamente migliorata, ma ho pensato che questo fondotinta avrebbe comunque potuto aiutare il processo di guarigione, per cui ho deciso di acquistarlo. La prima cosa che mi sento in dovere di sottolineare è il pessimo color range. Io ho scelto la tonalità più chiara disponibile in Italia, 02 Fresh Ivory, ma per me è comunque leggermente scura; inoltre ha un sottotono beige che tendenzialmente non amo molto, preferendo fondotinta con sottotono giallo. Nonostante ciò, devo ammettere che una volta applicato riesce ad adattarsi abbastanza bene al mio colorito naturale, il tutto sta nell’utilizzarne una piccola quantità e sfumarlo con molta accortezza. L’effetto finale è assolutamente naturale, non troppo opaco e non troppo luminoso, e regala una buona media coprenza. Infine, cosa per me fondamentale, dura tutto il giorno senza lucidarsi. Non posso, invece, pronunciarmi in merito alle sue proprietà curative, non avendolo utilizzato sufficientemente a lungo per poter avere risultati in questo senso. In ogni caso non mi ha causato alcun tipo di reazione allergica e per il momento posso ritenermi soddisfatta.

Per quanto riguarda, invece, il correttore, sto utilizzando il Lumi Magique di L’Oreal Paris  (€ 14,50) nella tonalità 01 Light. Per essere precisi, non è un vero e proprio correttore ma una penna illuminante, perfetta da utilizzare sul contorno occhi, intorno al naso e sotto le sopracciglia. La cosa che più apprezzo è il fatto che non si infili nelle pieghette sotto gli occhi, come invece fanno la maggior parte dei correttori che utilizzo. Trovo che questo prodotto possa essere una valida alternativa economica  al Touche Eclat di Ysl!

February Favorites

I can’t believe February has already gone, time goes by so fast!! But I’m not complaining, January and February are the months I hate the most! I hope Spring comes soon!

So, it’s time to choose the products that I’be been loving the most during this month.

I’m going to start with a skincare product that I’ve been using for a couple of months and has really made the diffenerce in my skincare routine. It’s the Glam Glow Supermud mask (€ 49,90) . It’s a skin clearing mask aimed to problematic skins, that helps fighting breakouts, discolorations, blackheads and all that jazz! When I apply it, I can definitely see all the dirt coming out from my skin and, after I’ve washed it off, my skin looks smoother and brighter. I also like to use it as a spot treatment: when I have some blemishes, I apply it only on the affected area before going to bed and I leave it on overnight. When I rinse it off in the morning,  blemishes are smaller and less visible. It’s a bit expensive, but I don’t mind investing in some good skincare treatment.

Is there any eye cream out there that really does what it claims? My eye area is not too bad, I don’t have dark circles (unless I’ve been partying all night, of course) and I don’t really have wrinkles. The fact is that most of the eye creams I’ve been using were either too light or too heavy and greasy and I was never happy with them. Now I think I have finally found the perfect one: the Clinique Repairwear laser focus wrinkle correcting eye cream (€ 43,90). What I like the most about this cream is its consistency, not too light and not too heavy, it’s just perfect. It could seem a little greasy when you first apply it, but it absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving the eye area moisturized and soft. I love it!

This is an old favorite of mine: the Clinique Take the Day Off Balm (€ 26,90). I have made a review about it here, so I’m gonna make a long story short: best makeup remover I’ve ever tried, perfect for my sensitive, combination, prone to breakouts skin.

I’ve recently made a post about the dark lips trend and I’ve mentioned that my favorite dark lipstick is the Chanel Rouge Alloure in Rouge Noir (€ 29,00). I have to include this in my February favorites since I’ve been using it a lot this month and I really love it. It can be used in different ways, you can apply just one layer for an easyer look, or you can build it up for a more dramatic night time look. I love Chanel lipsticks in general, they’re a bit expensive but their quality is great!

My favorite foundation of the month has to be the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua (€ 38,00), I love its natural glowing finish, its covereage and the fact that it’s so light weight you almost fell like you are not wearing make up at all. And I like mixing it with other foundations, the results are always great!

The last product that I’ve been liking a lot this month is the Kiko Dazzling Highlighter (€ 7,30) form the “Dark Heroin” collection (I think it was a limited edition). I have it in the color 01 “Moonlight Gold”, a beautiful white pearly shade, perfect for light skin tones like mine. I really like the fact that it comes in a stick, so it’s very easy and quick to apply and it blends really well into the skin. I usually apply it above my cheeckbones before my foundation, in order to achieve a more natural look. When I bought it I didn’t expect me to like it, but I was wrong! If you’re looking for a good highligher and you don’t want to spend a lot of money for it, I suggest you to try this Kiko one! Then let me know your thoughts!

Non mi sembra vero che Febbraio sia già finito, il tempo passa così in fretta! Non che mi lamenti, Gennaio e Febbraio sono i mesi che odio di più! Ora spero che la primavera non si faccia attendere a lungo!

In ogni caso, è giunto il momento di scegliere i miei prodotti preferiti del mese!

Inizierò con un prodotto di skincare che sto usando ormai da un paio di mesi e che ha apportato un decisivo miglioramento nella mia routine di cura della pelle: sto parlando della maschera Glam Glow Supermud (€ 49,90). Si tratta di una maschera purificante pensata per pelli problematiche, con l’intento di contrastare la comparsa di brufoli e migliorare l’aspetto della pelle grassa in generale. Una volta applicata, si vede chiaramente come sia in grado di eliminare ogni impurità dai pori e, dopo il suo risciacquo, la pelle è visibilmente più luminosa e morbida. La uso spesso anche come trattamento notturno in caso di brufoli: la applico solo sull’area affetta la sera, prima di andare a dormire, e la mattina seguente noto che l’infiammazione è diminuita e l’imperfezione è meno visibile. So che è un prodotto abbastanza caro, ma non mi dispiace investire in un buon trattamento per la pelle, soprattutto quando si dimostra davvero efficace!

Esisterà mai una crema per il contorno occhi che faccia veramente quello che promette? Io non ho occhiaie marcate (a meno che la notte prima non abbia fatto i bagordi, s’intende!) e non ho particolari problemi di rughe, il mio problema è che tutte le creme che avevo provato fin’ora erano o troppo leggere e, quindi, praticamente inutili, o eccessivamente ricche e grasse. Ora, però, ho trovato una crema che rappresenta la perfetta via di mezzo che stavo cercando: si tratta della Clinique Repairwear laser focus wrinkle correcting eye cream (€ 43,90). Quello che più mi piace è, appunto, la sua consistenza, non troppo leggera, ma nemmeno troppo pesante, idrata benissimo il mio contorno occhi e, anche se appena applicata può sembrare molto ricca, si assorbe rapidamente, lasciandolo la pelle morbida e luminosa.

Il prodotto di cui vi sto per parlare è uno dei miei preferiti di sempre: è il Clinique Take the Day Off Balm (€ 26,90). Ne ho fatto una review dettagliata qui, per cui sarò breve: è il miglior struccante che abbia mai provato, perfetto per la mia pelle sensibile, mista e soggetta a sfoghi di varia natura.

Recentemente ho pubblicato un post in cui parlavo del trend di indossare rossetti dark che ha spopolato quest’inverno e ho menzionato il rossetto che personalmente utilizzo per creare questo tipo di look, ossia il Chanel Rouge Alloure nella tonalità Rouge Noir (€ 29,00). Dovevo necessariamente includerlo tra i miei preferiti di Febbraio, perché l’ho utilizzato tantissimo e confermo la mia opinione positiva. Quello che più mi piace è la sua versatilità: un’applicazione di uno strato leggero consente di creare look poco impegnativi, ma è possibile calcare un po’ la mano per ottenere un effetto più dark, perfetto per un look da sera. Sono sempre stata una grande amante dei rossetti Chanel in generale, sono un po’ cari ma la loro qualità è sempre ottima.

Il mio fondotinta preferito di questo mese non poteva che essere il Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua (€ 38,00). Adoro il suo finish luminoso ma molto maturale, la sua coprenza e il fatto che sia talmente leggero sulla pelle da farmi dimenticare che sto indossando il fondotinta. E mi diverto moltissimo a mescolarlo con altri fondotinta perché l’effetto che ottengo è sempre bellissimo!

L’ultimo prodotto che ho amato molto durante il mese appena trascorso è il Dazzling Highlighter di Kiko (€ 7,30), parte della collezione “Dark Heroin” (credo sia un’edizione limitata). L’ho preso nel colore 01 “Midnight gold”, una bellissima tonalità bianco perlata che si adatta bene alla mia carnagione pallida. Mi piace molto il fatto che sia un prodotto in stick, il che lo rende semplice e veloce da utilizzare, inoltre è molto facile da sfumare grazie alle sua consistenza setosa. Normalmente preferisco applicarlo sulla parte superiore degli zigomi prima di stendere il fondotinta, così da ottenere un effetto molto naturale. Devo ammettere che quando l’ho acquistato credevo non mi sarebbe piaciuto, invece sono stata piacevolmente sorpresa. Se state cercando un buon illuminante ma non volete spendere molto, vi consiglio assolutamente di dare un’occhiata a questo di Kiko! Poi fatemi sapere cosa ne pensate!
