Empties #3

Here's another round up of the products that I've recently used up.

Caudalie Polyphenol C15 Anti-Wrinkle Serum (€ 35,70): I love this serum and I've already bought another bottle of it. It's lightweight and hydrating at the same time and it contains antioxidants which are very good for the skin.

Caudalie Eau de Beaute (from € 11,00): nice product, not life-changing (not for me, at least) but definitely something that's worth trying. It's a mist of essential oils that freshen up your face, hydrates the skin and alleviates inflammations and irritations. I like to keep the small size of this bottle in my bag, especially in summer time or when I travel.

Le Volume De Chanel mascara (€ 30,10): I love this mascara, it gives volume to my lashes without looking clumping. However, I haven't repurchased it because I wanted to try the Lancome Grandiose mascara (which I'm liking a lot).

The Body Shop Almond Hand & Nail Cream (€ 10,00): although I love the smell of this hand cream, it's not moisturizing enough for me, especially in winter. Maybe it would be a nice hand cream for summertime.

Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado (€ 25,00): I love this eye cream, is very thick and hydrating, but it absorbs quickly and leaves the skin smooth and soft. However, I decided not to repurchase it (for now) and to try, instead, another Kiehl's eye cream which has a stronger anti aging power (see my review here).

The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil (€ 16,00): I've talked a lot about this cleanser in this blog, so you probably already know this is my all time favorite cleanser. It removes my make up without any effort, it's gentle and it leaves my skin super soft. I've already bought another bottle of it!

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-Free Lotion (€ 24,00): this is a nice lightweight moisturizer aimed to combination to oily skins, however right now my skin needs something a bit more hydrating, so I'm not going to buy it again for now.

Roc Retin-Ox Correxion Wrinkle Smoothing Eye Cream (€ 23,60): I hate this eye cream. I can't tell if it is actually able to fight wrinkles, all I know is that I doesn't give any kind of moisture to my under eye area, so that any fine line looks even more noticeable. I won't buy it again!

Too Faced Primed & Poreless Power (€ 28,90): I don't think this it a bad powder, it's lightweight, it's not visible on the skin and has a decent staying power. However I like the Bare Minerals Mineral Veil powder a lot more, so I won't buy this one again.

L'Oreal Professionnel Lumino Contrast Thermo Protective Xylose (€ 14,95): this thermo-protective spry makes my hair shiny and soft and it has an amazing smell. However, at the moment I'm using the Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Primer and I'm very happy with it, so I'm not going to buy this L'Oreal spry again for now.

Have you ever tried any of these products?

Empties #2

In the last couple of months I've used up quite a few beauty products and I've been collecting them with the purpose of doing a little review of each one of them and telling you what I've liked and what I haven't liked.

First of all, I've finished both my John Frieda Sheer Blonde conditioner (€ 11,00) and Sheer Blonde shampoo (€ 11,00). If you follow my blog, you know I love this line, my hair feels so soft and clean every time I use them and my blonde has become more luminous and vibrant. I've already repurchased both of them!

Another product that has always been a favorite of mine and that I've already repurchased is the Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening toner (€ 20,00). It's an exfoliating toner that brightens, smooths and softens your skin. It does an amazing job in making dark spots less visible and in fighting blemishes and imperfections. It's supposed to be used a couple of nights a week, but, since it's so gentle, I've been using it 5-6 nights a week and my skin just loves it!

I've finally finished the Fotoprotector Isdin Ultra Fusion Fluid SPF 100+ (€ 26,10). This stuff has lasted me forever, it seemed like it was never going to end, which is a positive thing if you think of the price. It's a nice spf for combination skins because is very lightweight, however I won't by it again. I still prefer La Roche Posay's spf: they are less expensive and they protect not only against UVA but also against UVB (which the ISDIN spf doesn't). Moreover, there is no difference between spf 50 and every other higher spf factor, so I have gone back to my beloved LRP spf 50 +.

A product that I've used up and I'm definitely going to buy again is the Lush "None of your beeswax" lip balm (€ 8,50). I love how it keeps my lips hydrated for long and I also like a lot the slightly shiny finish. Although I love the vanilla and lemon taste it has, I will probably try an other taste next time.

I've also used up my beloved Dior Rouge Dior Nude lipstick in the shade 459 Charnelle (€ 31,50), but, even though it's one of my favorite nude lipsticks, I'm not sure I'm going to buy it again any time soon. I love the fact that it's not drying on the lips and the shade, a pinky nude with a slightly peachy undertone, suites perfectly my complexion. However, there are a couple of Mac nude lipsticks that I want to try before going back to this Dior one.

Another empty product I've already repurchased is the Avene Cicalfate Repair Cream (€ 10,00). I've talked about it in my October favorites post, check it out for my review.

When it comes to eye creams, I'm always on the search for the perfect one. This summer I bought the Caudalie Polyphenol Anti-Wrinkle eye and lip cream (€ 26,00) and I loved it. It was lightweight but moisturizing enough for my under eye area. However, now that the weather is colder, I need something a bit reacher, so I won't buy it again, until, maybe, next summer.

The Clinique Airbrush Concealer (€ 22,50) has been on my wish list for so long that it's hard for me to admit that, now that I've bought it and used it up, I won't buy it again. It's a nice highlighting concealer, it doesn't give a tons of coverage, but I'm fine with that. The fact is that I find it very similar to the L'Oreal Lumi Magique highlighting pen, which is a bit cheaper and easier to apply.

Another product from Clinique, which, this time, I have already repurchased is the Anti-Blemish Solutions Clearing Gel (€ 18,50). It's a great ally when it comes to fight occasional blemishes, I use it overnight and the morning after the imperfection is almost gone.

Last, but not least, another old favorite of mine that I'm definitely going to buy again. It's the Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum (€ 45,50). I usually use it during summer, because it's light weight and it can be used under your sun block in order to achieve a flawless complexion. It makes my skin bright and smooth and my complexion looks a lot healthier every time I use it.

Night time skincare routine

I've talked about my morning skincare routine in this post, now I'm going to share with you my night time routine.

1. MAKE UP REMOVER. If you're wearing any make up, the first and most important thing is to remove it properly. Make up remover wipes are not contemplated. The best way to remove make up, in my opinion, is using a balm or an oil, but a milky cleanser or a micellar water are also good.
My favorites: Clinique Take Off The Day Balm, The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil, Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water.

2. CLEANSER. Here the rules are the same as for the morning routine (go here). I use the same cleanser morning and night, but, if you have problematic skin, in the night time you can use a more effective cleanser, maybe with healing properties. Honestly, I think that a gentle cleanser is always preferred, but it really depends on what works for your skin type.
My favorites: Avene Clean-Ac, Algenist Gentle Rejuvenating cleanser, Ren ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Clay Clanser.

3. MASK. This step is optional and is not something that should be done every night. I usually put a mask on my face two or three times a week. There are a lot of great masks for every kind of necessity; my favorites are the purifying ones, but you can go for a brightening mask, an hydrating mask, an exfoliating one and so on. You probably won't see dramatic changes in your skin after one application, but, believe me, in the long terms, masks are great treatments.
My favorites: Ren Pore Minimising Detox Mask, Kiehl's Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Mask, Glamglow Supermud Mask.

4. TONER. In my night time routine, the toner I usually use is an exfoliating one. I try to always choose a gentle toner, that doesn't irritate my skin, but, at the same time, I want it to be a bit more effective then the one I use during the day. If I find it to be too strong, I use it only two or three nights a week, but if it's gentle enough, I use it every night.
My favorites: Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening toner, Clinique Mild Clarifying Lotion, Lierac Prescription Keratolytic Lotion.

5. EYE CREAM and SERUM. I don't want to bore you, this is the same step I take in my morning routine, so go here for more information.

6. MOISTURIZER. Again, refer to my post about my morning routine. The only difference is that sometimes, for the night I use a richer moisturizer or an oil, especially in winter, it depends on my skin necessities, which constantly change.
My favorites: Ren V-Cense Revitalizing Night Cream, Clarins Lotus Oil Face Treatment , Avene Cicalfate Repair Cream

1. STRUCCANTE.
I miei preferiti: Clinique Take Off The Day Balm, The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil, Bioderma Sensibio Acqua Micellare.

2. DETERGENTE.
I miei preferiti: Avene Clean-Ac, Algenist Gentle Rejuvenating cleanser, Ren ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Clay Clanser

3. MASCHERA.

I miei preferiti: Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening toner, Clinique Mild Clarifying Lotion, Lierac Prescription Soluzione Cheratolitica.

5. CREMA CONTORNO OCCHI e SIERO.

Morning skincare routine

Over the last few years I've learned how important is to follow the right routine, when it comes to skincare. There are some steps that I follow every morning and night, no matter what, in order to take care of my skin. In this post I'm going to talk about the morning routine that works the best for me.

1. CLEANSER. The first thing that you have to do in the morning, is to wash your face. I've learned that gentle cleansers are the best, especially in the morning, when you only need a quick and refreshing cleanse. No matter what your skin type is, I suggest a creamy cleanser, which is way more delicate than a foaming one. Believe me, even if you have oily skin, try not to use aggressive products that strip your skin of all the oils: in fact, as a reaction, the skin will compensate by producing even more oil (nice, uh?). As an alternative, a micellar water would do the job.
My favorites: Avene Clean-Ac, Algenist Gentle Rejuvenating cleanser, Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water.

2. TONER. I know a lot of people tend to avoid this step, thinking that toners don't do anything special for the skin. This is wrong. Of course, you have to find the right one, but, personally, I would never skip this part of my routine. The fact is that most of the toners are very harsh and contain alcohol, which is bad for your skin, but I can assure you that there are some other great toners that are very gentle, yet effective on the skin. Depending on your skin's necessities, you can choose an hydrating toner, a balancing toner, and antibacterial toner and so on. Just make sure that they don't contain aggressive ingredients and they will be fine.
My favorites: Lush Tea Tree Water (antibacterial and mattifying), Caudalie Beauty Elixir (hydrating and calming), Lierac Tonique Eclat (hydrating and brightening), Shiseido Pureness Balancing Softener toner (balancing and purifying).

3. EYE CREAM. I think that eye creams are very important, even for younger people. The skin around the eyes is very thin and sensitive and it needs extra care. Personally, I would avoid eye creams with strong anti-aging properties, unless you have a more mature skin, because once your skin get used to these kind of products, less strong eye creams wouldn't be enough anymore. So, a good nourishing eye cream is enough for younger skin types.
My favorites: Caudalie polyphenol C15 eye cream, Clinique All About Eyes Rich, Clarins Eye Contour Balm.

4. SERUM. Getting older, I've realized that a good serum can make a big difference. As for the toner, there are serums for every need: hydrating, brightening, with antioxidants, anti-aging, exc. They are more expensive than a normal moisturizer, but they are also more concentrated and powerful, so, I think they're worth the price.
My favorites: Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance serum, Lierac Luminescence serum, Vichy Idealia Pro serum, Caudalie Pulpe Vitaminée Anti-Wrinkle serum

5. MOISTURIZER. Even if your skin is oily, it's very important to kip it hydrated and protected. A good moisturizer is required for every skin type, just choose the one that works better for you. If your skin is dry or mature, try a rich cream, if it's sensitive, instead, there are a lot of gentle moisturizer that work wonders; for oilier skins I suggest a light oil-free cream; if your skin is irritated, go for a soothing one, maybe with aloe vera, which has a great calming power.
My favorite: Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil Free Lotion, Avene Cicalfate Repair Cream, Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer, The Body Shop Aloe Soothing day cream.

6. SPF. The last step is super important in order to protect your skin against sun damages, like wrinkles, dark spots, premature signs of aging and, in the worst cases, skin cancer. We should wear SPF every day, every time of the year. Some people use SPF only for sunbathing, but we are expose to the sun every time we go out, even in winter. That is why it's important to wear a sun protection under our make up or after our moisturizer. Some daily moisturizers and some foundations contain spf, but, please, don't rely on them, they're not enough. Go instead, for a good sun protection cream with a non greasy consistency, which won't leave you with an unpleasant white cast on your face. There are a lot of good SPF for every skin types, some of them are even mattifiyng, so you don't have any excuses. I suggest you to choose a protection factor of 30 or 50. Something less wouldn't be enough, but an higher SPF is not necessary since it's proved that there is no difference between SPF 50 and 100.
My favorites: La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Fluid extra light SPF 50+, La Roche Posay Anthelios Gel Cream dry touch SPF 50+, Avene Emulsion SPF 50+.

I miei preferiti: Avene Clean-Ac, Algenist Gentle Rejuvenating cleanser, Bioderma Sensibio acqua micellare.

2. TONICO.

I miei preferiti: Caudalie polyphenol C15 contorno occhi, Clinique All About Eyes Rich, Clarins Eye Contour Balm.

4. SIERO.
I miei preferiti: Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance serum, Lierac Luminescence serum, Vichy Idealia Pro serum, Caudalie Pulpe Vitaminée Anti-Wrinkle serum.

5. CREMA IDRATANTE.
Le mie preferite: Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil Free Lotion, Avene Cicalfate Repair Cream, Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer, The Body Shop Aloe Soothing day cream.

6. SPF.
I miei preferiti: La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Fluido ultra leggero SPF 50+, La Roche Posay Anthelios Gel Crema tocco secco SPF 50+, Avene Emulsione SPF 50+.

On my wish list

I have to confess that my beauty products wish list is much, much longer that the one I'm going to share with you in this post. Every time I see or I read about some products that catch my attention, I note their names on my list, but sometimes it takes months before I remember about them. That is why my list is becoming longer and longer! In this post I want to show you a little selection of the beauty products that, at the moment, are on the top of my list.

1 - First of all, of course, a foundation. Being a foundation junkie, every time a new foundation is released, I just can't help myself, I need to try it! This one is by Dior and it's the new Diorskin Star foundation (€ 43,00). From what I've read about this product, it seems to be a lightweight foundation with a medium coverage that is supposed to brighten the skin without making it shiny. No shine, light weight formula, brightening finish? I'm sold!

2 - Another foundation that has been on my with list for a while is not exactly a traditional foundation. It's the Benefit Bigger that BB Big Easy Multi-Blancing Skin Perfector spf 35 (€ 38,90). Such a long name, right? I'm not a fan of BB creams, I find them to be greasy and not so lightweight and I don't believe in the "10 properties in 1" miracle. This Benefit BB cream, however, seems to be formulated for combination to oily skins, like mine, and it sets into a powdery finish that guarantees the lasting power of the product. This is something that I must try for sure!

3 - My all time favorite powder is the Bare Mineral Mineral Veil, however loose powers are not the best to keep in your bag. That is why I'm looking for a good pressed powder and the Clarins Ever Matte Powder ( € 31,50) sounds exactly what I need. I also love the golden packaging!

4 - At the moment I'm very happy with my haircare routine, however there is a product that, I think, might improved it: the Bumble & Bumble Invisible Oil Primer (€ 27,50). All the products form the Invisible Oil line seem amazing, but the primer is the one that has been receiving the best reviews. It conditions the hair and protects it against UV radiations. Sounds nice!

5 - As you might know, I'm a huge fan of serums, I think they can do a lot for our skin, and, in particular, I like brightening and exfoliating serum. This is why the Clinique turnaround concentrate radiance renewer serum (€ 59,50) is so appealing to me. Here's what is said on Clinique website: "Fast acting exfoliating serum instantly creates a luminous-from-within radiance. Reveals skin's finest texture, too. Works to optimise natural cell renewal, gently, continually, unveiling skin that's brighter, healthier, more uniform. Becomes softer, younger over time." I love every single word!

6 - I'm always on the search for a good moisturizer that is light enough not to make my combination skin oily, but also hydrating enough to fight dry patches and first wrinkles. I've always heard good things about the Kiehl's rosa arctica moisturizer, but I've always been afraid it would have been too rich for my skin. However, I recently discovered that there is a lighter version, the Kiehl's rosa arctica lightweight cream (€ 52,00), that seems to be perfect for my skin! It's supposed to fight first sights of aging and to make the skin smooth and hydrated. Lovely!

Have you ever tried any of these products? What do you think?

Bene, bene.

Avete mai provato questi prodotti? Cosa ne pensate?

September favorites

I can't believe September is already ending, Summer passed too fast! This month I've been changing a bit my skincare and my make up in order to prepare my skin for the colder months.

I've told you how much I love the Caudalie Radiance Serum in some for my previous posts. I've been using it all Summer long, but once I've run out of it, I decided to try something a little bit richer and more hydrating, like the Caudalie Polyphenol C15 Anti-Wrinkle Defense Serum (€ 35,70), and I have to say that, like every other Caudalie's products I've tried, it hasn't disappointed me. It's a bit richer than the Radiace Serum, but it absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving it plumped and moisturized. I also like the fact that it contains antioxidants, which are very important in order to protect the skin against external factors. Another winner from Caudalie!

Last winter I've been using the Nars Deep Throat blush (€ 31,00) basically every single day, but, as soon as Spring stared, I left it behind and I got into more peachy shades. This month, however, I started using it again and I still love it. It's a beautiful pink shade with a tiny bit of shimmer that highlights the cheekbones in a very natural way. It has the perfect pigmentation, not too intense nor too light, and it lasts all day on my cheeks.

My moisturizer of trust this month has been the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-Free Lotion (€ 24,00), a very basic cream-lotion that hydrates the skin while keeping oil production under control. Like most of Kiehl's products, it doesn't contain parabens, fragrance and silicons and it's not comedogenic. It's perfect for my combination to oily skin, it's light but gives the right amount of moisture to my skin. Lovely.

My most recent skincare discovery is a face mask that I've been wanting to try for a very long time: the Nuxe Aroma Perfection Unclogging Thermo Active mask (€ 17,90). It's a product aimed to combination and oily skin and it has a triple action: it heats up to dilate the pores, it exfoliates the skin and it's also purifying. I can definitely feel the heat when I apply it, it's a very nice feeling. It's also a very quick mask, you have to leave it on your face only for 2 or 3 minutes, which is perfect for a busy girl like me! The exfoliating action is very gentle and this is something I always like. It leaves my skin very soft and clean, without being harsh or drying. Nice!

What do you think? Have you tried these products?

Avete provato questi prodotti?

The "anti-blemmishes" team

I know a lot of people out there sruggle with acne, breakouts and problematic skin and, believe me, I know how frustrating it could be. I myself sometimes soffer of hormonal and diary breakouts and it’s not nice. What I recommend is, of course, to see a doctor; anyway, if your imperfections are not severe, there are some products that might be helpful. I’m going to talk about the products that I think work well for me, but remember that every skin type is different, so I’m not going to say that they would work for everybody!

First of all, when my skin is doing really bad, I relay on two different tonics: the first one is the Tea Tree Water by Lush (€ 10,95). I use it in the morning after my cleanser, it really hepls reducing the oils on my skin and the tea tree oil has antiseptic properties that helps reducing any inflammation and irritation. It’s a wonderful product and it doesn’t dry out my skin, which is always good!

In the evening, instead, two or three times a week, I use my Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner (€ 20,00), which works a little deeper then the Lush toner, as it contains AHA, which gently exfoliate the skin, making it look smoother and reducing any marks or discolorations.

Two times a week I apply a purifying mask and one of my favorites is the Kiehl’s Rare Earth pore cleansing mask (€ 25,00). It’s formulated with Amazonian white clay that helps to unclog your pores. Again, I like the fact that it removes impurities from the pores without being too harsh.

As moisturizer, when I’m breaking out I usually rely on my beloved La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo (I’ve tlaked about it here), anyway my dermatologist recently suggested me to try the Gram Acne cream by Esther (€ 12,00), which basically does what the LRP Effaclar duo does, but it’s a little bit more moisturizing, without being too heavy. It helps to calm down any breakout and spot and keeps my skin’s oil production under control.

As a treatment, I always use my Lierac Prescription Antiblemish dual-phase concentrate (€  12,10). I’ve told you how much I love this product in this post, I only apply it on the affected areas before going to bed, and the morning after I can already see some improvements: the inflammation has calm down and the spots are smaller. I love it!

What are you favorites spot treatments?
