2014 favorites: the best of the best

As I told you in my December favorites post, I've decided to write a post about my favorite products of all 2014. Some of these products are new launches of the year, other are simply new to me, but they all are the products that I've liked the most this years. So, let's start!

SKINCARE

1- The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil (€ 16,00): this is my all time favorite make up remover. It's suitable for sensitive skin, it removes any kind of make up, even the waterproof one, and it leaves the skin soft and silky. 

2- Kiehl's Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Mask (€ 25,00): I'm a huge fan of purifying masks, I've tried quite a few this year, but my favorite is the Kiehl's one. It purifies the skin and makes the pores less visible. It's very effective but it doesn't dry out my skin.

3- Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado (€ 25,00): if you are looking for a simple rich eye cream, this is the perfect one. Although it's very rich, it absorbs instantly into the skin, leaving the under eye area soft and hydrated for long.

4- Caudalie Polyphenol C15 Serum (€ 35,70): this is a light weight, yet hydrating serum rich with antioxidants, which help fighting wrinkles and protecting the skin against environmental factors like UV rays, pollution, ecc. 

HAIRCARE AND BODYCARE

1- The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Body Butter (€ 15,00): this body butter is very rich and creamy and it leaves my skin incredibly soft and hydrated. And the smell is amazing, it makes me want to eat it!

2- Masterline Frizz Control Hair Serum for Straight Hair (€ 7,00): this is like gold in a bottle for my long straight hair. It makes it soft and frizz free, without being heavy or greasy. My hair just loves it!

3- Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Primer (€ 27,50): this product does everything you need for your hair: it protects it against heat and UV rays, it detangles it and makes it softer, silkier and frizz free. 

MAKE UP

1- Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation (€ 38,00): I've tried a lot of different foundations this year, but I always go back to this one. It's lightweight, it doesn't look cakey, it has a light but buildable coverage and it has the most beautiful natural and luminous finish.

2- BareMinerlas Mineral Veil Powder (€ 26,50): hands down the best powder I've ever used. It keeps my make in place all day long, it doesn't feel heavy and it makes my skin look silky and flawless.

3- Nars Creamy Concealer (€ 27,50): although I find that this concealer looks a bit cakey under my eyes, I think it does an mazing job in covering imperfections and rednesses. Thanks to its creamy consistency, it's very easy to blend and it can achieve a quite high coverage without feeling heavy. 

4- Mac Lipstick in the shade Brave (€ 19,00): this is a recent discovery but has suddenly become my favorite lipstick of the year. It's a beautiful mauve pink shade with a satin finish that makes my lips look instantly more plump.  

5- Mac Era eyeshadow (€ 18,00): this is another recent discovery, but it has become my favorite every day eyeshadow. It's a beautiful soft golden beige, perfect to be used in the creases of the eyelids in order to give definition to the eyes.

Come vi ho accennato nel mio post sui preferiti di Dicembre, ho deciso di scrivere un post che riassuma tutti quelli che sono stati i miei prodotti preferiti del 2014. Alcuni sono stati nuovi lanci, altri sono semplicemente prodotti che non avevo mai provato prima, ma sono tutti prodotti che mi hanno conquistata e sono entrati nella mia routine quotidiana. Bene, iniziamo!

CURA DELLA PELLE

1- Olio Detergente alla Camomilla di The Body Shop (€ 16,00): si tratta senza dubbio del mio struccante preferito di sempre. E' adatto alle pelli sensibile, rimuove qualunque tipo di trucco, compreso quello resistente all'acqua,  e lascia la pelle morbida e vellutata.

2- Kiehl's Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Mask (€ 25,00): sono una grande amante delle maschere purificanti, quest'anno ne ho provate parecchie, ma questa di Kiehl's rimane la mia preferita. Purifica la pelle e minimizza l'aspetto dei pori; sebbene si molto efficace, non secca o irrita la pelle.

3- Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado (€ 25,00): se cercate una  semplice crema idratante per il contorno occhi, questa è la scelta perfetta. Sebbene sia molto ricca, si assorbe immediatamente e lascia le pelle del contorno occhi morbida ed idratata a lungo.

4- Caudalie Polyphenol C15 Siero (€ 35,70): si tratta di un siero per il viso molto idratante ma, allo stesso tempo, leggero, ricco di antiossidanti, che aiutano a prevenire e ridurre l'aspetto delle rughe e a proteggere la pelle da fattori ambientali come raggi UV e inquinamento. 

CURA DEI CAPELLI E DEL CORPO

1- The Body Shop Balsamo corpo al Burro di Cacao (€ 15): si tratta di un balsamo corpo molto ricco che lascia la pelle incredibilmente morbida ed idratata. Inoltre, ha un profumo così buono che fa venire voglia di mangiarlo!

2- Masterline Siero Liscio Frizz Control (€ 7,00): questo serio è come oro in bottiglia per i miei capelli lunghi e lisci. Li rende molto più morbidi e combatte  efficacemente l'effetto crespo senza appesantirli. I miei capelli lo adorano!

3- Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Primer (€ 27,50): questo prodotto fa praticamente tutto quello che serve ai nostri capelli: li protegge dal calore e dai raggi UV, li districa, li rende morbidi, setosi e previene l'effetto crespo.  

MAKE UP

1- Fondotinta Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua (€ 38,00): ho avuto modo di provare diversi fondotinta nel corso dell'anno, ma alla fine trono sempre a questo. E' leggero e impercettibile sulla pelle, ha una coprenza bassa ma modulabile e dona alla pelle uno splendido effetto luminoso ma naturale. 

2- Cipria Mineral Veil di Bare Minerals (€ 26,50): è senza dubbio la mia cipria preferita. Fissa il trucco per tutto il giorno, non risulta pesante e fa apparire la mia pelle vellutata e liscia. 

3- Nars Correttore Eclat (€ 27,50): nonostante trovi che questo correttore risulti troppo corposo per essere usato sotto gli occhi, trovo che faccia un ottimo lavoro nel coprire imperfezioni e rossori. La sua consistenza cremosa lo rende facile da sfumare e ne garantisce l'elevata coprenza, senza che risulti pesante sulla pelle. 

4- Rossetto di Mac nella tonalità Brave (€ 19,00): questo rossetto è una scoperta recente, ma è subito diventato il mio rossetto preferito tra tutti quelli che ho provato nel 2014. La sua tonalità è un bellissimo rosa malva con un finish satinato che fa sembrare le mie labbra più piene a carnose. 

5- Ombretto di Mac "Era" (€ 18,00): anche in questo caso si tratta di una recente scoperta, ma è subito diventato il mio ombretto preferito per tutti i giorni. E' un meraviglioso beige dorato, perfetto da essere utilizzato nella piega dell'occhio per dare maggior definizione allo sguardo.

November favorites

 

Here we are with another monthly favorites post. I’m so happy November has come to the end because this means that my favorite time of the year is coming: Christmas time! There’s something magic in this period that makes me feel like a little child. 

But let’s talk about some serious stuff: my favorite beauty products of the month!

The first product I want to talk about is by far my most loved of the month: it’s the Kiehl’s avocado eye cream (€ 25,00). I’d been having it on my wish list for a while when I finally was able to get a couple of samples and I suddenly felt in love with it, so I decided to buy the full size. It’s very thick and dense but it doesn’t feel greasy or oily at all. The skin under my eyes just drinks it and when I apply my concealer it blends beautifully and it doesn’t crease anymore! Amazing!

Another product by Kiehl’s that, instead, has taken me a while before I started loving it is the Kiehl’s Overnight Biological peel (€ 45,00). After I bought it I suddently regretted it: at that time my skin had just recovered from a bad time and I was pretty happy with the products that I was using. What scared me was the fact that introducing a new product that I’ve never tried before could have caused me some bad reactions. So I started using it once every two weeks, then once a week and now I have finally started using it twice a week, how you’re supposed to do, and everything is doing well. It’s a biological night time peel that helps the regeneration of the skin thanks to its gentle, yet effective, exfoliating power. I have to say tha every time I use it, the morning after my skin looks incredibly bright and glowing. I’ve also noticed that some of the red spots left by my last breakout are slowly fading away.

The last addition to my haircare routine is the Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil primer (€ 27,50), a thermo and UV protective base that also detangles and conditions the hair, making it soft and frizz-free. You basically get everything your hair needs all in one product, isn't it great? And it really works wonderfully  My hair has been incredibly soft since I've started using it and I don't fear humidity anymore more: this is my greatest anti-frizz ally! Not to mention the amazing smell it has!

The last two make up products that I've been using almost every day this month are both form Mac. The first one is a lipstick and it's call "Brave" (€ 19,00). I decided to buy it because I've read somewhere that it's the lipstick Kylie Jenner uses to wear and I love her voluminous dark nude lips. I'm not surprised that this product has become my new favorite everyday nude lipstick. It's a gorgeous mauve pink shade, with a satin finish, that looks like your lips but better. For some reason, when I wear it my lips, which are already quite plump on their own, looks bigger and more voluminous. 

The other Mac product is an eyeshadow called "Era" (€ 18,00), a beautiful soft golden beige that would look amazing on every skin tones. If you're a neutral eyeshadows lover like myself, you can't but falling in love with it. I think it's the perfect shade to use in your creases to add a bit of definition to the eyes. And, like almost all Mac's eyeshadows, it blends beautifully and the quality of the product is really great.

Eccoci di nuovo all’appuntamento mensile con i miei prodotti preferiti. Non potete immaginare quanto io sia felice che il mese di Novembre sia finalmente terminato, poiché questo significa che il mio periodo dell’anno preferito è alle porte. C’è qualcosa di magico nell’aria quando si avvicina il Natale che mi fa un po’ tornare bambina.

Ma parliamo di cose serie: i miei prodotti preferiti di Novembre!

Voglio iniziare con il prodotto che senza dubbio è stato la migliore scoperta del mese: la crema contorno occhi all’avocado di Kiehl’s (€ 25,00). Era da un po’ che desideravo provarla e, quando finalmente, sono riuscita ad ottenere un paio di campioncini me ne sono subito innamorata, tanto che sono corsa ad acquistare la full size. E’ una crema molto densa e corposa che, tuttavia, non risulta affatto grassa o pastosa. La mia pelle la adora, rimane così morbida e idratata che il correttore non mi da più alcun problema di applicazione e non entra più nelle pieghette sotto gli occhi! Adoro!!

Un altro prodotto Kiehl’s che, invece, ho impiegato un po’ ad apprezzare, è l’Overnight Biological Peel (€ 45,00). Non appena l’ho acquistato me ne sono pentita: in quel periodo, infatti, la mia pelle si era appena ripresa dopo una brutta eruzione cutanea ed ero molto soddisfatta dei prodotti che stavo utilizzando. L’idea di introdurne uno nuovo mai provato prima mi spaventava un po’, poiché non sapevo come la mie pelle avrebbe potuto reagire. Per questo motivo ho iniziato ad utilizzarlo dapprima una volta ogni due settimane, successivamente una volta ogni settimana, per poi giungere al suo corretto utilizzo, ossia due volte a settimana. Devo dire che sono molto soddisfatta, non mi ha causato alcun tipo di reazione allergica e, anzi, ha apportato un notevole miglioramento alla mia routine quotidiana. Si tratta di un peel dalla consistenza fluida, da applicare rigorosamente la notte, che, grazie alle sue proprietà esfolianti, aiuta la pelle a rigenerarsi. Devo ammettere che ogni volta che lo utilizzo, la mattina seguente mi sveglio con la pelle fresca e radiosa. Inoltre ho notato che alcuni dei segni rossi rimasti dopo la mia ultima eruzione cutanea stanno lentamente sbiadendo da quanto ho iniziato ad utilizzare questo peel.

L'ultima aggiunta alla mia routine di cura dei capelli è il Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil primer (€ 27,50), una base termo e UV protettiva che districa ed idrata i capelli, rendendoli morbidi e combattendo l'effetto crespo. In pratica, in un solo prodotto sono racchiusi tutti i trattamenti che vorremmo per i nostri capelli...non è grandioso? E funziona magnificamente! Da quando ho iniziato ad utilizzarlo i miei capelli sono molto più morbidi e l'umidità non è più un problema: ho trovato il mio più grande alleato nella lotta all'effetto crespo! Per non parlare del buonissimo profumo che lascia sui capelli!

Gli ultimi due prodotti che ho utilizzato quasi ogni giorni nel corso del mese sono entrambi di Mac. Il primo è un rossetto, ed, in particolare, sto parlando del celeberrimo "Brave" (€ 19,00), che, pare, sia uno dei rossetti nude utilizzati da Kylie Jenner per ottenere il suo caratteristico effetto ultra voluminoso sulle labbra che sta spopolando ormai da mesi e del quale anche io sono fan! Non mi sorprende, quindi, che questo rossetto sia diventato uno dei miei rossetti nude preferiti di sempre. Si tratta di una meravigliosa tonalità di rosa malva con una punta di marrone che, grazie anche al suo finish satinato, dona un effetto "le mie labbra ma meglio". Per qualche motivo, quando lo indosso le mie labbra, già abbastanza carnose di natura, appaiono più piene e voluminose. 

L'altro prodotto di Mac è un ombretto che si chiama "Era" (€ 18,00), un bellissimo beige dorato molto delicato che penso possa risultare bellissimo su qualunque tipo di carnagione. Se, come la sottoscritta, siete amanti degli ombretti dai toni neutri, questo fa sicuramente al caso vostro. Trovo che sia la tonalità perfetta da utilizzare tutti giorni, applicandolo nella piega dell'occhio per aggiungere un po' di definizione, ma mantenendo un effetto molto semplice e naturale. Inoltre, come la maggior parte degli ombretti di Mac, la qualità del prodotto è davvero ottima!

I have to confess that my beauty products wish list is much, much longer that the one I'm going to share with you in this post. Every time I see or I read about some products that catch my attention, I note their names on my list, but sometimes it takes months before I remember about them. That is why my list is becoming longer and longer! In this post I want to show you a little selection of the beauty products that, at the moment, are on the top of my list.

1 - First of all, of course, a foundation. Being a foundation junkie, every time a new foundation is released, I just can't help myself, I need to try it! This one is by Dior and it's the new Diorskin Star foundation (€ 43,00). From what I've read about this product, it seems to be a lightweight foundation with a medium coverage that is supposed to brighten the skin without making it shiny. No shine, light weight formula, brightening finish? I'm sold!

2 - Another foundation that has been on my with list for a while is not exactly a traditional foundation. It's the Benefit Bigger that BB Big Easy Multi-Blancing Skin Perfector spf 35 (€ 38,90). Such a long name, right? I'm not a fan of BB creams, I find them to be greasy and not so lightweight and I don't believe in the "10 properties in 1" miracle. This Benefit BB cream, however, seems to be formulated for combination to oily skins, like mine, and it sets into a powdery finish that guarantees the lasting power of the product. This is something that I must try for sure!

3 - My all time favorite powder is the Bare Mineral Mineral Veil, however loose powers are not the best to keep in your bag. That is why I'm looking for a good pressed powder and the Clarins Ever Matte Powder ( € 31,50) sounds exactly what I need. I also love the golden packaging!

4 - At the moment I'm very happy with my haircare routine, however there is a product that, I think, might improved it: the Bumble & Bumble Invisible Oil Primer (€ 27,50). All the products form the Invisible Oil line seem amazing, but the primer is the one that has been receiving the best reviews. It conditions the hair and protects it against UV radiations. Sounds nice!

5 - As you might know, I'm a huge fan of serums, I think they can do a lot for our skin, and, in particular, I like brightening and exfoliating serum. This is why the Clinique turnaround concentrate radiance renewer serum (€ 59,50) is so appealing to me. Here's what is said on Clinique website: "Fast acting exfoliating serum instantly creates a luminous-from-within radiance. Reveals skin's finest texture, too. Works to optimise natural cell renewal, gently, continually, unveiling skin that's brighter, healthier, more uniform. Becomes softer, younger over time." I love every single word!

6 - I'm always on the search for a good moisturizer that is light enough not to make my combination skin oily, but also hydrating enough to fight dry patches and first wrinkles. I've always heard good things about the Kiehl's rosa arctica moisturizer, but I've always been afraid it would have been too rich for my skin. However, I recently discovered that there is a lighter version, the Kiehl's rosa arctica lightweight cream (€ 52,00), that seems to be perfect for my skin! It's supposed to fight first sights of aging and to make the skin smooth and hydrated. Lovely!

Devo confessare che la mia wish list di prodotti di bellezza è molto, molto più lunga di quella che vi mostrerò in questo post. Ogni volta che vedo o sento parlare di un prodotto che mi sembra interessante, ne annoto il nome; tuttavia, è facile che passino mesi prima che mi ricordi dell'esistenza del prodotto in questione! Ecco perché la mia lista sembra diventare infinita! In questo post voglio mostrarvi una piccola selezione di prodotti che, al momento, occupano i primi post nella classifica dei miei prodotti più desiderati.

1 - Il primo è, ovviamente, un fondotinta. Avendo una particolare predilezione per i fondotinta, non appena ne viene lanciato uno nuovo, le mie antenne si allertano! Questo, in particolare, è il nuovo nato in casa Dior, il Diorskin Star (€ 43,00). Da quanto ho avuto modo di leggere, si tratta di un fondotinta molto leggero sulla pelle che, tuttavia, è in grado di raggiungere una buona media coprenza. Inoltra, illumina l'incarnato senza, però, lucidare la pelle. Leggero, illuminante, anti-lucido? Lo voglio. 

2 - Un altro fondotinta che è nella mia wish list da ormai un bel po' di tempo non è in realtà un fondotinta tradizionale. Si tratta del Benefit Bigger that BB Big Easy Multi-Blancing Skin Perfector spf 35 (€ 38,90). Nome lungo, vero? Normalmente non amo le BB cream, le trovo troppo grasse e non poi così leggere sulla pelle e, soprattutto, non credo neanche un po' al miracolo di "10 proprietà in 1". Questo prodotti di Benefit, tuttavia, sembra essere pensato per pelli miste/grasse e il suo finish cipriato dovrebbe garantirne la durata. Non ci credo finchè non lo vedo sulla mia pelle!

3 - La mia cipria preferita in assoluto è la Mineral Veil di Bare Minerals, tuttavia una cipria in polvere libera non è l'ideale da tenere in borsa per veloci ritocchi durante la giornata. Per questo motivo sto cercando una buona cipria compatta e la Ever Matte di Clarins (€ 31,50) sembra fare proprio al caso mio. E poi il contenitore metallico dorato è carinissimo!

4 - Al momento sono molto soddisfatta della mia routine di cura dei capelli, tuttavia c'è un prodotto che credo potrebbe migliorarla ulteriormente: l'Invisible Oil Primer di Bumble & Bumble  (€ 27,50). Tutti prodotti di questa linea mi sembrano ottimi, ma questo primer è quello che sta ottenendo il maggior numero di recensioni positive. Si applica prima di procedere allo styling e ammorbidisce i capelli, proteggendoli dalle radiazioni UV. Non male, vero?

5 - Come forse saprete, sono una grande amante dei sieri, trovo che possano fare davvero molto per la nostra pelle; in particolare, amo i seri illuminanti ed esfolianti. Ecco perché il siero Turnaround Concentrate Radiance Eenewer di Clinique (€ 59,50) attira così tanto la mia attenzione. Ecco come viene descritto sul sito di Clinique: "Il concentrato che illumina, grazie ad un processo di rinnovamento cellulare multi-livello. Leviga la superficie epidermica donandole un aspetto più luminoso ed omogeneo. Nel tempo la presenza delle linee sottili si attenua notevolmente". Adoro ogni singola parola!

6 - Sono sempre alla ricerca di una buona crema idratante che sia abbastanza leggera da non rendere la mia pelle lucida e sufficientemente idratante da combattere le prime rughe. Ho sentito parlare molto bene della crema Rosa Arctica di Kiehl's, ma ho sempre temuto fosse troppo ricca per la mia pelle. Recentemente, però, ho scoperto l'esistenza della Rosa Arctica Lightweight (€ 52,00), appositamente pensata per pelli miste/grasse. Dovrebbe combatte i primi segni di invecchiamento e lasciare la pelle soffice ed idratata. Bene, bene.

Beat the heat!

Are you prepared to face the summer heat? Over the years, I've discovered some amazing products that are my loyal allies in this battle against hot weather.

First af all, foundation. Let's be honest, during Summer the best thing to do is not to wear foundation at all. But if you really need some coverage, you should choose a long lasting or waterproof foundation that, at the same time, has to be light, so that your skin can breath. My favorite is the Shiseido Sun Protection Liquid foundation with SPF 30 (€ 26,00). This foundation is very liquid, so it feels extremely lightweight, but, at the same time, it gives you a nice medium coverage. Moreover, it's water resistant, transfer resistant and long lasting, not to mention the fact that it protects against UV rays. It's a shame the color range is so small!

Whether you are wearing make up or not, during the day you might feel the need to refresh your face. In this case, a spray mist will be your savior, especially if you keep it in the fridge! Thermal Water form Avene would be great, but, at the moment, my favorite is the Beauty Elixir by Caudalie (from € 11,00). I like the travel size because you can keep it in your bag and spray it on your face whenever you need it.

If you want to wear eyeshadows, you need to prime your lids. Otherwise, there is no way your eyeshadows would last. My favorite primer is the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion (€ 19,90). I swear this product will make your make up last forever! I have the shade Original, which is a neutral color, but I have some samples of the shade Sin and it's lovely: it's a metallic-shimmer color that makes your lids very luminous.

For my hair, during the summer months, most of the time all I use to style it is my beloved Bumble & Bumble Surf Spry (€ 27,50). I have very long hair and, when the weather becomes very hot, I refuse to blow dry it. So, what I do is applying the Surf Spry on my wet or dump hair, sometimes even without brushing it before, and then I let it air dry. This spray adds volume and texture and gives my hair a beautiful beachy waves look.

What are your allies against summer heat?

Siete pronti per affrontare il caldo estivo? Nel corso degli anni, ho scoperto alcuni prodotti che sono diventati i miei alleati nella battaglia contro il clima torrido.

Prima di tutto, il fondotinta. Siamo onesti, durante l'estate la cosa migliore è non indossare il fondotinta. Tuttavia, se si dovesse avere la necessità di essere impeccabili e coprire qualche imperfezione, sarebbe bene orientarsi vesso un fondotinta a lunga durata o resistente all'acqua che sia, allo stesso tempo, leggero, così da non soffocare la pelle. Il mio preferito è il Sun Protection Liquid foundation di Shiseido, con SPF 30 (€ 26,00). Avendo una consistenza molto liquida, questo prodotto risulta davvero molto leggero, ma, allo stesso tempo, regala una buonissima coprenza. Inoltre, è resistente all'acqua, no-transfer e a lunga durata, per non parlare della protezione che offre contro i raggi UV. E' un peccato che la gamma di tonalità disponibili sia molto ridotta!

Che siate o meno truccate, nel corso della giornata potreste avere la necessità di rinfrescare il viso. In questo caso, l'ideale è spruzzare un po' di acqua nebulizzata sulla pelle. L'Acqua Termale di Avene è sempre un'ottima scelta, tuttavia, al momento, sto amando molto l'Elisir di Bellezza di Caudalie (a partire da € 11,00). In particolare, trovo molto pratico il formato da viaggio, che posso portare con me in borsa, così da averlo sempre a portata di mano.

Se volete applicare un ombretto, il primer occhi è indispensabile, altrimenti non vi è alcuna possibilità che il trucco duri. Il mio preferito al momento è l'Eyeshadow Primer Potion di Urban Decay (€ 19,90). Giuro che con questo primer l'ombretto dura un'eternità! Io possiedo la tonalità Original, un colore neutro simile al colore naturale delle pelle, ma ho un campioncino della tonalità Sin e trovo che sia graziosissimo: ha un finish metallico-brillante che rende le palpebre molto luminose. 

Per quanto riguarda i capelli, durante l'estate, tutto quello che utilizzo è il mio amato Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray (€ 27,50). I miei capelli sono molto lunghi e, quando il caldo si fa sentire, mi rifiuto di ricorrere all'asciugacapelli. Per cui, tutto quello che faccio è spruzzare il Surf Spray sui capelli bagnati o umidi, a volte senza nemmeno prima pettinarli, e lasciare che si asciughino naturalmente all'aria. Lo spray dona volume e texture ai capelli, rendendoli mossi e spettinati, come se avessi trascorso la giornata in spiaggia.

Long hair, don't care!

I have to admit that, even if I have very long hair, I’m not the kind of person that uses lots of products, masks and treatments to keep it in good condition. I’ve always had pretty nice hair. I cut it very short (I mean, veeery short) when I was about 14, but, after that, I decided to let it grow. Now my hairdresser trims it every other month and that helps to keep it healthy. My natural hair color is a sort of dark ashy blond, but I dye it light blonde and I’m pretty happy with the result.

It’s not that I don’t take care of my hair, I just feel that I don’t need to use lots of products since I feel that, in my case, less is definitely more.

I don’t use any particular shampoo and conditioner, I always change them. I feel that what really makes the difference is using an oil after washing my hair. I find that oils really nourish my hair and make it softer and glossy. My favorite at the moment is from Bottega Verde, a very popular Italian herbarist, and it’s the Moroccan Argan Oil (€ 14,49), which is supposted to strengthen and brighten dry and damaged hair. I only use a tiny bit of it on wet hair and then I blow dry it. It leaves my hair soft and bright without being heavy or oily.

On the ends of my hair, instead, I use the Lush Shine so Bright (€ 8,50), a hair balm that is supposted to cure and prevent split ends. I apply it on the ends on my wet hair after I’ve washed it and before blow drying it. It’s made of coconut oil, shea butter and olive oil and, even if I don’t think that it can really do something for split ends, it really gives moisture to the ends and makes them look healthier. And it lasts forever!

Devo confessare che, pur avendo capelli molto lunghi, non sono il tipo di persona a cui piace utilizzare troppi prodotti e trattamenti per la loro cura. Ho sempre avuto capelli abbastanza sani, li ho tagliati corti quando avevo circa 14 anni, (e quando dico corti, intendo mooolto corti!), ma, da allora, ho deciso di lasciarli crescere. Adesso li faccio spuntare dal mio parrucchiere a mesi alterni e trovo che siano in buone condizioni. Il mio colore naturale è un biondo cenere abbastanza scuro, ma li faccio tingere biondo chiaro, mantenendo una base cenere e aggiungendo riflessi più chiari.

Non è che non mi prenda cura dei miei capelli, è solo che non sento il bisogno di usare un’eccessiva quantità di prodotti, anche perché mi rendo conto che meno prodotti uso, meglio è.

Per quanto riguarda shampoo e balsamo, non ho preferenze particolari, tendo a cambiarli spesso. Quello che invece fa davvero la differenza è l’olio per capelli, che uso sui capelli bagnati prima di procedere ad asciugarli con il phon. Al momento il mio preferito è l’Olio di Argan del Marocco di Bottega Verde (€ 14,49), pensato per rafforzare e ridare luminosità a capelli secchi e danneggiati. Ne uso pochissimo sui capelli appena lavati e li lascia davvero luminosi e morbidi senza appesantirli o risultare troppo oleoso.

Sulle punte, invece, uso Lush Dritti al Punto (€ 8,50), una sorta di balsamo che dovrebbe curare e prevenire le doppie punte. Lo applico sulle punte dei capelli bagnati e appena lavati, prima di asciugarli. E’ composto da olio di cocco, olio d’oliva e burro di carité e, anche se non credo sia veramente efficace contro le doppie punte, trovo che lasci le mie punte sane ed idratate. E il prodotto dura davvero a lungo!

Speaking of styiling products, I’ve always had the hardest time trying to give my hair a nice messy beachy look, nothing seemed to work, probably because my hair is straight and heavy. But then I tried the Bumble & Bumble Surf spry (€ 27,50). This spry is really amazing, I apply it on damp hair and then I blow dry it with a diffuser or let it dry naturally, styiling it with my fingers in order to get beautiful beachy waves. I don’t use it every day because it contains sea salt, which is a little bit drying, but I like it a lot! I think that it would work even better or shorter hair, but I really like the natural wild messy look that it gives to my long hair! Perfect for summertime!

Another Bumble & Bumble styling product that I’m really enjoing is Brilliantine (€ 24,90). At first I wasn’t really sure how to use it. It’s a styling cream that also adds sheen to your hair; it’s very hard to describe this product, but I find that it can be used in may different ways. I like to use it on wet or damp hair to add texture and make it shiny, or in combination with the B&B Surf spry for a more messy look. I think it’s a very versatile product and I’m still experimenting a lot with it.

Parlando, invece, di prodotti per lo styiling, ho sempre avuto difficoltà a trovare un modo efficace per ottenere sui miei capelli quell’effetto ondulato/spettinato che si ottiene dopo una giornata passata al mare. Niente sembrava efficace, probabilmente perché i miei capelli sono naturalmente dritti e molto pesanti a causa della lunghezza. Ma poi ho provato il Surf spry di Bumble & Bumble (€ 27,50). E’ davvero fantastico, lo applico sui capelli umidi per poi lasciarli asciugare all’aria o utilizzando un phon con diffusore, e ottengo, così, un bellissimo effetto mosso naturale. Non lo uso tutti i giorni perché contiene sale marino, che tende leggermente a seccare i capelli, ma è un prodotto che mi ha piacevolmente impressionata. Probabilmente su capelli più corti il risultato sarebbe ancora migliore, ma trovo davvero bello il look spettinato e un po’ selvaggio che si ottiene su capelli lunghi come i miei.

Un altro prodotto Bumble & Bumble per lo styling che mi piace utilizzare è Brilliantine (€ 24,90). Inizialmente non sapevo esattamente come utilizzarlo, è una crema che dona lucentezza ai capelli rendendoli, nel contempo, più corposi; è difficile descrivere esattamente questo prodotto, è, infatti, davvero molto versatile. A me piace applicarlo sui capelli umidi o bagnati per aggiungere texture e luminosità, oppure usarlo in combinazione con il B&B Surf spry per un effetto ancora più spettinato, ma è un prodotto che consente davvero di sperimentare modalità diverse di utilizzo!
