The pink lips edition

After my post about nude lipsticks (here), I've decided to write a post about pink/fucsia ones. I own quite a few of them, probably because pink, in all its shades, is the kind of color that looks good for every look in every season.

Having a fair skin tone, light pastel baby pink lipsticks usually don't look good on me, so I tend to choose bolder shades. That is why the lighter lipsticks I own, in pink shades, are not properly light. The first one is the Dior Addict Fluid Stick (€ 31,00) in the color n. 479 "Magique", a beautiful coral pink shade with a warm undertone (see full review here). It looks like a gloss, but the finish is quite velvety and the color payoff is amazing. The other one is the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet (€ 29,50) in the shade n. 42 "L'éclatante", a gorgeous bright pink with a matte finish and a creamy velvety texture. It doesn't dry out the lips, like most matte finish lipsticks do, and it has a very good lasting power.

Moving to a true fucsia shade, suitable for the day time, I have a couple of options. The first one is the Clinique Chubby Stick (€ 17,50) in the shade n. 15 "Pudgy Peony", a moisturizing tinted lip balm with a creamy consistency and a sheer but buildable color intensity. The shade is a nice fucsia with a blu undertone. The Dior Addict Lipstick (€ 30,90) in the shade n. 778 " Show" has a warmer undertone and a quite more luminous finish, but, like the Clinique Stick, it has a quite sheer, although buildable, color payoff. 

For a night time or special occasions look, my favorite lipstick is the Shiseido Perfect Rouge (€ 25,95) in the shade RS 320, which is the most amazing fucsia shade I've ever seen. It has an intense blu undertone, so it's more like a magenta color with a touch of pink. The formula is amazing as well: it has a creamy texture that makes it extremely comfortable on the lips, the finish is more on the matte side and the color payoff and the lasting power are great. Another great option is the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet (€ 29,50) in the shade n. 37 "L'Exuberante", a bright fucsia shade with a touch of red and the perfect dose of cold and warm undertone, so that it would suit any skin tone. I love the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet lipsticks, their formulation is brilliant, the velvety finish is gorgeous and the color payoff is great.

Dopo il mio post a proposito dei rossetti color nude (qui), ho deciso di scriverne uno in merito ai rossetti rosa/fucsia, poiché trovo che questo colore, declinato in tutte le sue tonalità, si addica bene a qualunque look in qualunque periodo dell'anno.

Avendo una carnagione pallida, tendenzialmente i rossetti rosa pastello molto chiaro non mi donano particolarmente, motivo per cui tendo sempre a scegliere colori un po' più decisi, che ravvivino il mio incarnato. Ecco perché i due rossetti rosa più chiari che possiedo non sono propriamente "chiari". Il primo è il Dior Addict Fluid Stick (€ 31,00) nella tonalità n. 479 "Magique", un bellissimo rosa corallo con sottotono caldo (trovate la review completa qui). Sembra un gloss, ma il finish è piuttosto vellutato e l'intensità del colore è ottima. L'altro rossetto è il Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet (€ 29,50) nella tonalità n. 42 "L'éclatante", un meraviglioso rosa acceso con un finish matte ed una consistenza cremosa e vellutata. A differenza della maggior parte dei rossetti con finish opaco, questo non secca le labbra e dura molto a lungo. 

Passando ad una tonalità di fucsia utilizzabile durante il giorno, ho un paio di opzioni. La prima è il Clinique Chubby Stick (€ 17,90) nel colore n. 15 "Pudgy Peony", un balsamo labbra idratante e colorato, con una consistenza cremosa ed un'intensità leggera ma modulabile. Il colore è un bel fucsia con sottotono blu. Il Dior Addict Lipstick (€ 30,90) nella tonalità n. 778 "Show", invece, ha un sottotono più caldo ed un finish leggermente più luminoso, ma, come il Chubby Stick, ha un'ntensitò di colore abbastanza leggera, sebbene modulabile. 

Per un look da sera o da occasioni speciali, il mio rossetto preferito è il Shiseido Perfect Rouge (€ 25,95) nel colore RS 320, la più bella e particolare tonalità di fucsia che abbia mai visto. Ha un intenso sottotono blu, che lo rende più simile al magenta che non al fucsia. Anche la formulazione è ottima: la sua texture cremosa lo rende estremamente confortevole sulle labbra, il finish è leggermente matte e la sua intensità di colore, così come la sua tenuta, è notevole. Un'altra ottima scelta è il Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet (€ 29,50) nel colore n. 37 "L'Exuberante", un'accesa tonalità di fucsia con un tocco di rosso ed il perfetto equilibrio tra sottotono caldo e sottotono freddo, che lo rende adatto a qualsiasi carnagione. Adoro i rossetti di Chanel di questa linea, hanno una formulazione davvero brillante, il loro finish vellutato è meraviglioso ed il payoff di colore eccezionale.

Beat the heat!

Are you prepared to face the summer heat? Over the years, I've discovered some amazing products that are my loyal allies in this battle against hot weather.

First af all, foundation. Let's be honest, during Summer the best thing to do is not to wear foundation at all. But if you really need some coverage, you should choose a long lasting or waterproof foundation that, at the same time, has to be light, so that your skin can breath. My favorite is the Shiseido Sun Protection Liquid foundation with SPF 30 (€ 26,00). This foundation is very liquid, so it feels extremely lightweight, but, at the same time, it gives you a nice medium coverage. Moreover, it's water resistant, transfer resistant and long lasting, not to mention the fact that it protects against UV rays. It's a shame the color range is so small!

Whether you are wearing make up or not, during the day you might feel the need to refresh your face. In this case, a spray mist will be your savior, especially if you keep it in the fridge! Thermal Water form Avene would be great, but, at the moment, my favorite is the Beauty Elixir by Caudalie (from € 11,00). I like the travel size because you can keep it in your bag and spray it on your face whenever you need it.

If you want to wear eyeshadows, you need to prime your lids. Otherwise, there is no way your eyeshadows would last. My favorite primer is the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion (€ 19,90). I swear this product will make your make up last forever! I have the shade Original, which is a neutral color, but I have some samples of the shade Sin and it's lovely: it's a metallic-shimmer color that makes your lids very luminous.

For my hair, during the summer months, most of the time all I use to style it is my beloved Bumble & Bumble Surf Spry (€ 27,50). I have very long hair and, when the weather becomes very hot, I refuse to blow dry it. So, what I do is applying the Surf Spry on my wet or dump hair, sometimes even without brushing it before, and then I let it air dry. This spray adds volume and texture and gives my hair a beautiful beachy waves look.

What are your allies against summer heat?

Siete pronti per affrontare il caldo estivo? Nel corso degli anni, ho scoperto alcuni prodotti che sono diventati i miei alleati nella battaglia contro il clima torrido.

Prima di tutto, il fondotinta. Siamo onesti, durante l'estate la cosa migliore è non indossare il fondotinta. Tuttavia, se si dovesse avere la necessità di essere impeccabili e coprire qualche imperfezione, sarebbe bene orientarsi vesso un fondotinta a lunga durata o resistente all'acqua che sia, allo stesso tempo, leggero, così da non soffocare la pelle. Il mio preferito è il Sun Protection Liquid foundation di Shiseido, con SPF 30 (€ 26,00). Avendo una consistenza molto liquida, questo prodotto risulta davvero molto leggero, ma, allo stesso tempo, regala una buonissima coprenza. Inoltre, è resistente all'acqua, no-transfer e a lunga durata, per non parlare della protezione che offre contro i raggi UV. E' un peccato che la gamma di tonalità disponibili sia molto ridotta!

Che siate o meno truccate, nel corso della giornata potreste avere la necessità di rinfrescare il viso. In questo caso, l'ideale è spruzzare un po' di acqua nebulizzata sulla pelle. L'Acqua Termale di Avene è sempre un'ottima scelta, tuttavia, al momento, sto amando molto l'Elisir di Bellezza di Caudalie (a partire da € 11,00). In particolare, trovo molto pratico il formato da viaggio, che posso portare con me in borsa, così da averlo sempre a portata di mano.

Se volete applicare un ombretto, il primer occhi è indispensabile, altrimenti non vi è alcuna possibilità che il trucco duri. Il mio preferito al momento è l'Eyeshadow Primer Potion di Urban Decay (€ 19,90). Giuro che con questo primer l'ombretto dura un'eternità! Io possiedo la tonalità Original, un colore neutro simile al colore naturale delle pelle, ma ho un campioncino della tonalità Sin e trovo che sia graziosissimo: ha un finish metallico-brillante che rende le palpebre molto luminose. 

Per quanto riguarda i capelli, durante l'estate, tutto quello che utilizzo è il mio amato Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray (€ 27,50). I miei capelli sono molto lunghi e, quando il caldo si fa sentire, mi rifiuto di ricorrere all'asciugacapelli. Per cui, tutto quello che faccio è spruzzare il Surf Spray sui capelli bagnati o umidi, a volte senza nemmeno prima pettinarli, e lasciare che si asciughino naturalmente all'aria. Lo spray dona volume e texture ai capelli, rendendoli mossi e spettinati, come se avessi trascorso la giornata in spiaggia.

My foundation collection: part 2

Giorgio Armani Maestro: this is the most expensive foundation I’ve ever bought, but I decided to purchase it for my last birthday, since I had a 20% discount at Sephora.

I really like this foundation, but I can’t use it often because it accentuates any drypatches on my skin. Anyway, when my skin doesn’t have any kind of issue, it gives a beautiful silky matte finish to the skin. Like the Chanel Vitalumiere Acqua, it’s very lightweight and it has a light to medium coverage. I have the shade 4.5, which I tought it would have been too dark for me, but, after a couple of minute I’ve applied it, the shade adjusts to my natural skintone perfectly. It’s not the most long lasting foundation I have, but, if you settle it with a good powder, it would last all day.

Suitable for: any skin type except very dry skins

I’m sure you all have heard about the Estèe Lauder Double Wear foundation, it’s very famous for being extremely long wearing and for having a very high coverage. I have it in the shade 2N1 Destert Beige, which it’s an ok match, but not perfect. I use this foundation rarely, basically only when I have some special occasion to attend to and my skin is looking awful. It’s definitely the most long lasting foundation that I’ve ever tried, but it’s a bit too heavy coverage for me.

Suitable for: combination to oily skin

Shiseido sun protection liquind foundation. This foundation is a water resistant foundation with SPF 30. It has a medium to full coverage and it’s very long lasting. The finish is luminous, definitely not matte. I like it a lot, the only problem is that in Italy only two shade are available: p60, which is too pinky for me, and p40, the one I own, which is a yellow under tone shade that is’a bit too dark for me for winter time, but it becomes perfect during Spring/Summer time, when I get a bit tanned. I love the fact that it has an high spf and that it lasts without getting shiny even in the summer heat!

Last but not least, the Bare Mineral Matte foundation. This is my go-to foundation, the one that I reach for when I want an easy and simple everyday make up look. I was sceptical about this product at first, but I have to say that I really like it. It has a light buildable coverage and it's very lightweight on the skin. The finish is matte, but, during the day, it becames more natural. It’s not long lasting, but I usually set it with the Mineral Vail powder and it lasts a bit longer. My shade is w15 light.

Ecco la seconda parte della mia “collezione” di fondotinta. Se avete perso la prima parte, la trovate qui.

Giorgio Armani Maestro: questo è il fondotinta più costoso che abbia mai acquistato, ma ho approfittato di uno sconto del 20% da Sephora per regalarmelo per il mio ultimo compleanno. Nonostante mi piaccia molto, non posso utilizzarlo con costanza perché è il genere di fondotinta che tende ad accentuare eventuali aree secche sul viso. Tuttavia, quando la mia pelle non ha particolari problemi, le dona un bellissimo effetto matte setoso e molto naturale. Come il Chanel Vitalumiere Acqua, è molto leggero ed ha una coprenza medio-bassa. La mia tonalità è la n 4.5, che temevo fosse troppo scura, ma dopo un paio di minuti dalla sua stesura, si adatta benissimo alla tonalità naturale della pelle. Non è il fondotinta a più lunga tenuta che possiedo, tuttavia, se fissato con una buona cipria, mi dura tranquillamente tutto il giorno.

Maggiormente adatto a: ogni tipo di pelle tranne quelle molto secche

Il fondotinta Double Wear di Estèe Lauder non necessita particolari introduzioni, sono certa che tutti voi ne abbiate sentito parlare. E’ famoso per la sua lunga tenuta e per l’eccellente coprenza che riesce a raggiungere. La mia tonalità, 2N1 Destert Beige, si adatta abbastanza bene alla mia carnagione, non è perfetta ma non è nemmeno poi così male. Uso questo fondotinta solo quando ho occasioni speciali e la mia pelle è in pessime condizioni, ma devo dire che mi capita raramente.

Mi piace moltissimo il fatto che duri tantissimo senza mai lucidarsi, ma lo trovo un po’ troppo pesante per me.

Maggiormante adatto a: pelli miste e grasse

Shiseido Sun protection liquid foundation. E’ un fondotinta resistente all’acqua con spf 30. Ha una coprenza medio alta, un finish luminoso e un’ottima durata. E’ un fondotinta che mi piace molto, purtroppo, però, in Italia è disponibile solo in 2 tonalità: p60, che ha un sottotono rosato, e p40, quella che possiedo, che ha un sottotono giallo ma è un po’ troppo scura per il mio pallore invernale. Diventa, invece, perfetta in Primavera/Estate, quando la mia carnagione acquista un po' di colore. Ciò che più apprezzo di questo prodotto è il fattore di protezione solare abbastanza alto e la sua capacità di resistere anche al caldo estivo senza lucidarsi.

Maggiormente adatto a: pelle normale, mista o grassa.

Infine, il fondotinta che uso quando voglio un look semplice e naturale, perfetto per tutti i giorni, è il Bare Mineral matte. Ero un po’ scettica quando l’ho acquistato, ma devo dire che mi sono dovuta ricredere. Ha una coprenza da bassa a media ed è leggerissimo sulla pelle. Il finish è matte, ma nel corso della giornata diventa molto naturale. Non è un fondotinta a lunga durata, ma io lo fisso sempre con la cipria Mineral Vail ed in questo modo riesce a durarmi quasi tutto il giorno. La mia tonalità è w15 light
